Just a couple of quick things about Michael as he gets to be about two and a half.
1. I love this picture Stefani took of him a few weeks ago. He was very happy and so running around excitedly outside a restaurant. He would not sit still even for a moment, and he's in motion in this picture too, but she still got him! Very sweet.
2. "Your 2-Year-Old" says to be careful about adding anything to a Two's routines because then it will have to become part of the routine every day. Well, that has happened with bedtime, but I don't mind too much because it's not to stall bedtime, it's just to make sure everything's accomplished. We have a book of prayers that we read every night, with some additions (he is learning how to say "pray for us" as part of a small litany to our patron saints and he likes to tell me who we should pray for). We have recently added a book called "Our Blessed Mother" (I think this one came from Amanda?) so now he wants the "Mary book" every night too. And we've added several hugs once he gets into bed ("another hug?") from whoever puts him down. He also has to have his blanket, Snoopy, Elmo and Cookie Monster, who fortunately usually stay within close proximity to the bedroom. But then he usually goes right down. So, the (expanded) routine does work pretty well.
3. I know kids are very observant and you have to be really careful around them because you are being watched. But the things Michael observes are just nuts. Yesterday we were unloading the dishwasher and as he handed me cups one by one, he labelled them according to who uses them. Coffee mugs = "Eli". Green plastic cups = "Dada". Green glasses = "Mama". Yikes!! He also saw a Prius in the grocery store parking lot the other day and, correctly recognizing the type of car, said, "Amanda?" Family members be duly warned!
